The family expands HP MediaSmart
HP has just introduced new products in its range MediaSmart, which offers home servers with Windows Home Server.
The new products are two new servers for individuals: the HP MediaSmart EX490 and EX495. Some new software is also announced to users.
To recall, the HP MediaSmart offers servers with 4 racks internal hard drive and more USB ports and an eSata port to possess up to 17 GB of storage.

These new servers have a shape and design similar to their predecessors, the HP MediaSmart EX470 and EX475, but under the bonnet features techniques are different.
The HP MediaSmart EX490 is equipped with an Intel Celeron processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and hard drive to 1TB, to a price of 499 €.
The HP MediaSmart EX495 has an Intel Dual Core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and 1.5 TB of disk space for 100 € more.
Both new models are much more powerful than the old and should eat a little more energy. A server is an element that remains constantly lit, so this criterion is taken into account.
At the software level, the new Mac, iPhone and iTouch have been added. Windows Home Server is always used in the system.
This kind of product is very difficult to find in stores, some stores online and the site of HP’s offer to purchase.
I own an HP MediaSmart EX470 and I am very pleased with this investment. You can read my views on the subject here.
